Vision
Vision for Kham Siri Ministry
Our vision, passion and goal is to build a self sufficient community in the area God gave us, a community and church run by Thais and sustained by Thais. For this reason we disciple Thais and already share leadership with our Thai brothers and sisters.
Most of the people who are with us have become Christians through the Kham Siri ministry and we desire to support them all the way. We want to see them becoming strong Christians actively influencing the lives of others.
Kham Siri has a holistic approach and values and the power of Christianity integrated into daily life. In the Kham Siri community center we teach English, German and the Bible – and do many other activities. We use every opportunity to pray with people and to watch the kingdom of God actively breaking into peoples’ lives by means of physical healings, resolving conflicts through forgiveness, and other wonderful works of the Holy Spirit.
In the community itself Kham Siri supports families by taking sick ones to the hospital, buying food, having outings together, giving support at funerals and organizing parties together with the people we serve. We work to have a Christian focus in all that we do.
We desire to see the whole community developed in all aspects of life. That includes the spiritual, educational, which we give, and the practical. One special focus for Kham Siri is to improve housing. We recently assisted in rebuilding a bathroom for a family and have other projects in mind. When people have no food or clothes (especially in the cold season) we buy what is needed and in that way show God’s mercy to our community.
Kham Siri started the school and community center 3 years ago in a great location right in the middle of the community. It was open and transparent for everyone to see. It was small and very suitable for the evangelistic aspect of our work. It is on the main road but was very noisy. It was great phase-1 location. To fulfill the vision God has given us it was time to move to phase-2. Kham Siri needed to add extra services including counseling, a clinic for minor medical treatment, music and worship, and school facilities. We needed to move to a different, more suitable facility which could facilitate all those different parts of the ministry.
As much as we loved that small church plant, we felt that God wanted to enlarge the Kham Siri area of influence. Therefore, Kham Siri has moved a little bit closer towards the edge of our community. From here we can serve an expanded area. We have found a location that included the original community but includes a much wider area. We at Kham Siri praise the Lord for His guidance finding the right place.
Full Kham Siri Community Centre Vision
The full vision of the Kham Siri Community Centre can be envisioned in the chart above. Many of the activities are already in place yet many are waiting for God to provide the teammates and resources to start. The envisioned activities are those associated with a fully functional church and it is our prayer that as national Thai leadership is developed the Kham Siri Community Centre will become the Kham Siri Church.
The main activities of the Kham Siri are:
• Reaching and Serving the Community
• Counseling and Prayer
• Youth Club
• Music (future)
• Clinic (future)
At this point in time the most dynamic activities are the Youth Club and the Counseling and Prayer ministries. Individual and organizational partners are very interested in expanding the Community Service activities, especially more into the area of serving people impacted by HIV / AIDS and the homeless. Kham Siri, friends and partners have considerable experience in these ministry areas.
Please pray for wisdom as Kham Siri seeks God’s leading in which activities to prioritize. There is infinite need and we have an infinite God.
